Becca Martin-Welp

I am a senior concentrating in chemical engineering and I am a co-President of SWE! My role as Co-President with Rhea is to work with our corporate sponsors, plan events for the general body of the Society of Women Engineers and the engineering community, as well as coordinate funding with the School of Engineering. Outside of SWE, I am an undergraduate researcher in the Hurt Laboratory and a copy editor for The Indy! In my free time, I love baking, reading, and spending time with my friends!

Chloe Chow

Hello! My name is Chloe and I am concentrating in Mechanical Engineering and Visual Art. As Social Media Chair, I work to spread the SWE love by increasing the visibility of the club through our various media channels. You can usually find me sewing a garment for my runway collections with Fashion@Brown, or testing mechanical properties of ink in Zenit Fluids Research Laboratory, or in the Visual Art studio plasma-cutting steel sculptures. I also work in the amazing BDW as a Manager, where I get to share my love for making across mediums. My interests include eating and making food, experimenting with my outfits, and rollerskating down College Hill.

Serly Chohmalian

Hi everyone! My name is Serly and I am a junior concentrating in biomedical engineering. As a co-director of the outreach committee, I am passionate about organizing educational outreach events within the Providence / Rhode Island community for underrepresented groups in STEM. Beyond SWE, I am an undergraduate researcher in the Shukla Lab and serve as a mentor for the International Mentoring Program through the Global Brown Center. In my free time, I enjoy diving into a good book!

Hello! I’m a senior studying biomedical engineering with interests in medical devices and imaging. My role as Co-President with Becca is to organize community and outreach events, connect with corporate sponsors and the School of Engineering, and manage our funding. Outside of SWE, I’m a monitor in the BDW, undergraduate researcher in the Darling Lab, ENGN 520/1230 TA, and product development engineer for a spinal implant startup. In my free time, I love to run, illustrate, travel, and try unique chocolates!

As co-chair of outreach, I work closely with the other outreach chairs in coordinating and planning events to expand the engineering community at Brown. Outside of SWE, I am on Brown's sailing team, and in my free time I enjoy running, swimming, and going out with my friends.

Hi! I am Neva Mathew, a junior concentrating in Biomedical Engineering. As the DEI Cochair for SWE, I collaborate with other campus groups to increase student engagement and awareness of engineering resources, fostering a more inclusive and supportive community. Outside of SWE, I do research at the Laboratory for Translational Neurorecovery and volunteer at the RI Free Clinic. In my free time, I enjoy painting, dancing with Abhinaya, and baking with friends.

Hey ya! I'm Emilia, a junior concentrating in biomedical engineering and pursuing the certificate of entrepreneurship. I'm Peruvian-American, born in Mexico City, Mexico and raised in NY. I've been passionate about supporting women in engineering since high school and actually met Brown SWE for the first time when I was 15! At Brown, I work for the School of Engineering and also volunteer as an EMT at Brown EMS (BEMS). I love traveling, having random adventures, spending time with friends and family, binge-watching documentaries, playing volleyball, visiting museums, and scuba diving!

I am a sophomore concentrating in biomedical engineering. I am the Professional Development Co-Chair for SWE, which means I plan events that help our members build essential skills for their future careers. These events include workshops, company presentations, panels, and much more. Here at Brown, I am also a part of the Period Equity Club, Food Recovery Network, and CareFree Clinic. In my free time, I like to play ultimate frisbee and ride my bike.

Stella Chen

I am a senior concentrating in Mechanical Engineering. As co-Chair of Events I help plan and organize workshops and events to build community! Outside of SWE, I am a undergraduate researcher in the Srivastava lab, an ENGN 0310 TA, a violinist in the Brown University Orchestra, and an occasional writer for the Brown Daily Herald. In my free time, I like to walk my dog, read, cook, and rewatch the same two shows on Netflix.

Hello! I'm a second year Mechanical Engineering student focusing on automotive engineering. I'm an active member of Brown Formula Racing, an FSAE team that makes a competitive formula car every year. When I'm not writing the SWEekly emails, you can find me working in the BDW as a monitor, or out on the water with Brown Sailing. I have a huge green thumb, and in my (very little) free time, I love to knit!

I am a senior concentrating in Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mathematics, and I am one of the Outreach Directors of SWE. We create and lead programming for educational outreach in the Providence and Rhode Island community for underrepresented groups in STEM. Outside of SWE, I am a manager at the BDW and a greenhouse assistant. I enjoy biking, crocheting, making and repairing things, and trying new foods!

Heyo I’m Helen! I’m a sophomore studying Mech E and History, and I will be serving as your Event Co-Director with Stella this year. In addition to SWE, I am also an ENGN 32 TA, a Meik, and on the Club Women's Basketball Team. When I am not in B&H, some of my favorite things to do are Rubik’s cubes, Legos, building my friends' and family's furniture, cooking old Jewish and Azorean family recipes, and camping out in various Providence coffee shops.
